Jube Jar is a collective of musicians engaged in expanding their musical
crafts: composing, recording, and performing! Their weekly recording
sessions give consistency to that creative process. Their Social Media
presence provides an outlet for their fans to share in that process.
Live performances provide the ultimate outlet Here are the
present members of Jube Jar! Michael Tilka Bass Player -
Vocalist - Producer - Composer -
Videographer Tilka has been a vital participant in the music business his whole adult
life. Growing up in Indiana’s “Calumet
Region”, Tilka
started crossing into Illinois to soak up Chicago’s live music scene at
16. He performed with a variety of acts: Big Bands, Musical
Theater, Rock Acts, Lounge Lizards, Folk Acts, Polka Bands, Jazz Orchestras,
etc. Any musical experience that broadened his horizons was fair
game. Throughout high school & university he performed whenever and
wherever possible. Most notable was a summer in Milwaukee with Daryl Stuermer’s consummate jazz/rock horn band, FAMILY AT
MAX. After graduation from the U of W & Wayne State University
he spent a few years in Detroit as a secondary school teacher and a nighttime
Cocktail Lounge maven before he moved to Toronto. Tilka
was a founding member of the iconic Canadian rock act MAX WEBSTER.
Along with co-founder Kim Mitchell and his musical disciples, he toured all
over North America with the WEBSTER’S both as an opener (RUSH,
STYX, GENTLE GIANT, CHEAP TRICK, etc.) and as a headliner. MAX
played almost every high school in Ontario along with many major concert
venues, including Massey Hall and the Gardens. After coming off the road, he worked in artist management at
SRO/Anthem in Toronto. During this time Tilka
also produced MAX’S third gold record “Mutiny Up My Sleeve”. He
went on to produce albums for WIRELESS, FRANK SODA and ODD CLUE,
all the while playing bass on a variety of studio sessions and performing
countless gigs throughout Ontario with a broad range of acts. His joy
of playing continues to this day with JUBE JAR. Chris McHardy Singer - Songwriter -
Guitarist Chris has been the music business for
more than 35 years. At the age of seven, he picked up his first stringed
instrument, a hybrid of the American Banjo and the traditional Hawaiian Ukulele.
He was soon jamming with his father's Bluegrass & Country bands,
instilling a deep appreciation for Roots Music that can be heard in his
playing today. In the 80's, Chris moved to Toronto and toured
with a variety of Blues and R&B bands while hosting Acoustic Jams and
Guitar Workshops citywide. Chris recorded an instrumental CD of
original Jazz-Fusion songs which provided the opportunity to tour France and
the Benelux countries performing his original music along with popular Blues
Rock selections for European audiences. In 2002 Chris became the North
American Guitar Champion by performing original material at Niagara's Guitar
Festival. Chris continues to perform for Blues, Jazz, Rock, and
Bluegrass fans across Canada and the United States. Gord Fynes Drums - Percussion - Acquired Humour Toronto born, Gord started
playing drums at the age of ten. His Dad, a fine musician, showed him
how to play the intro to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band - from
then on he was hooked. Gord
played in various hardcore & crossover metal groups before becoming
interested in jazz, which eventually led him to study with renowned drum
teacher, Jim Blackley. Gord
has toured and recorded with several Toronto-based artists and has performed
with the power-pop group Clockwise, electro-Brazilian drum troupe Batucatronica, and the New Horizons Jazz
Orchestra. In addition to his role with Jube Jar, he is also
a member of the studio group Beefheart
Project Toronto, and a proud coffee snob. Brian Gagnon Audio Engineer -

When the Canadian Rock Scene was expanding, he played in several local acts
most notably Niagara’s hard rock act BULLRUSH. Brian then moved
on to Daffodil Records’ DILLINGER, which led to the formation of GRT
Records THE HUNT. After a few years of recording and touring
with THE HUNT he then toured with FRANK SODA and did studio
work with SHRRIFF and FROZEN GHOST, even doing demos for SHINIA
TWAIN when she landed her first big record deal. Brian then
established himself as a prominent fixture in the Toronto studio scene acting
as Producer / Engineer / Writer / Player / Singer for volumes of Canadian
acts. Jube Jar is more than pleased to have his help and
guidance. James Légère Singer - Guitarist -

he first started his musical journey writing songs and studying to become a
consummate musician. He is now an accomplished guitar player and
vocalist, who also plays bass, drums and piano. James studied recording

to produce and record his own music. With more than 30 years as a
session guitarist and vocalist, James plays many styles including blues,
rock, country, pop, ska, rap and oldies. James has performed with The
Boyd Gang, The Lawbreakers, The Idlewild South Blues Band and Little
Caesar and the Consuls, just to name a few. His association with
the Jube Jar collective has so far proven to be an expansive creative
outlet for his compositions. Sam Boutzouvis Guitarist - Vocalist -
Songwriter - Bass Player - Alto Player This multi-instrumentalist started rocking in Ottawa at a young
age. Sam continued preforming during university and all through Law
School. He then developed his skill set, forming ANTLERS, an
original project, with former members of MAX WEBSTER. He then
expanded into the jazz world starting the combo Mo’Vista
with Mike Tilka. Now, in addition to many
studio sessions (Terry Watkinson, Ronnie Hawkins, etc.), Sam
plays guilty pleasure tunes in Toronto clubs with the William K Tel
Orchestra while touring theatres & festivals with premier tribute acts Elton Rohn and Floyd Factor. Sam continues to
find time to bring his writing, playing and singing skills to the Jube Jar
collective. Jim Bruton Keyboardist - Songwriter - Resident
Sparks The fact that Jim taught at Simon Fraser University
after getting his PhD in Political Science is just a bonus to his music
endeavors. After graduating from the University of Windsor, Jim
traveled to Europe to hone his chops on keyboards. His roots were
developed in classical music, when his mother, the local piano teacher in his
hometown of Sarnia, got him started. Jim’s piano studies expanded as he
developed a broader range on the keys. He plays many styles of music,
provided the compositions have interesting changes and great grooves.
After Europe, he returned to Toronto and immediately took the position as the
original keyboard player in Max Webster. After a few years of
touring, he moved to BC to teach and continued performing in a multitude of
West-coast bands. Now back in Ontario he is providing his considerable
talents to the Jube Jar project. Bob Wegner Guitarist - Songwriter Bob is a professional musician of 15 years, performing both in theatres, and in the studio. In 2006 he was selected by Queen's Brian May & Roger Taylor to play guitar in the Toronto production of the We Will Rock You, ultimately leading to about 1,200 performances in various incarnations of the show around the world (Simply Queen). After several tours with Classic Albums Live, he contributed to Stephen Lee’s project, Fabletongue. Many of those tracks were in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer, David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, King Crimson). Bob has performed hundreds of solo acoustic shows and his guitar has been heard on many jingles and in films (In Saturn's Rings and the award-winning Touch). Bob's debut solo album "Changing Of The Guard" was released in 2017, with influences spanning Baroque to 1960s British folk. Daryl Stuermer Guitarist - Composer - Bass

touring the world to sold out crowds since the 70’s. Discovered while

Jean-Luc Ponty on tour and recording on his
four innovative albums. In late 1977, Stuermer
was recommended as a replacement for longtime member Steve Hackett for the
British progressive rock super-group GENESIS, beginning his 30 year
“permanent part-time stint” as lead guitarist with Genesis, touring
the world to sold-out crowds and performing on seven Genesis
albums. When Genesis’ drummer/singer PHIL COLLINS launched a
solo career during the early 80s, Stuermer became
an integral member of the Collins’ solo band. - http://darylstuermer.com/biography/ Daryl is a constantly busy performer, but Jube Jar is extremely
